Catalog Discount in Cart

In order to attract customers' attention, web-shops often launch various sales and clearance campaigns.

And here default Magento extends a helping hand by providing its built-in discount mechanisms: Catalog Price Rules and Shopping Cart Price Rules. The difference between them is obvious. The former affects catalog including listing and product detail pages unlike the latter, which displays discounts on the cart page only. In fact, this makes total sense, yet isn't as clear as it should be. A cart as well as a potential order do not supply full information about applied discounts.

The Catalog Discount in Cart extension rectifies this situation by adding ability to display Catalog Price Rule discounts in cart totals. Just the way Shopping Cart Price Rules work.

Description

The extension's configuration is represented by a single setting to turn on / off the discount display:
• System > Config > SafeMage > Catalog Discount in Cart > General > Show Catalog Discount in Cart = Yes / No

When the setting is on, cart totals include a discount amount for products affected by Catalog Price Rules. These products, in turn, have original prices displayed against them. This is very similar to what one might expect to see when Shopping Cart Price Rules get applied in cart. Speaking of which, the extension can easily handle cases when Catalog Price Rules are accompanied by Shopping Cart Price Rules. All discounts are summed up and displayed properly.
